Musician Spotlight: Paul Lynch
Paul plays Principal Trombone in the Great Falls Symphony Orchestra and is a Youth Orchestra Alum!
Paul is a Great Falls native and began his musical career in our Youth Orchestra, back in high school when he attended CMR! He then studied at the University of Idaho where he learned under Al Gemberling. He met his wife who is also coincidentally from Great Falls, in college. They moved on to Arizona State University where Paul earned both his Masters and Doctorate degrees.
Paul plays both trombone and bass trombone, and has been a part of several brass ensembles! He has played with Salt River Brass, the Brass Band of the Treasure Valley, and Opera Idaho. He also conducted the Arizona State University Trombone Ensemble while he was a DMA student there!
He recently relocated to Great Falls for his job, bringing his wife of 11 years, Brianna, and sons Nico, 2, and Bennett, 9 months. He is now the Teaching & Learning Center Coordinator at Great Falls College! His family lovingly owns two cats, Gustav (after Gustav Mahler) and Luna. Luna is only a week older than Nico; they grew up together and are inseparable.
Paul is a huge Seattle Sounders soccer fan, and enjoys playing in a summer league and the occasional pickup game. In his downtime he also enjoys video games, however his favorite way to pass time is with his boys.
He is excited to contribute to the community where he found his love for music. He is passionate about teaching trombone and is happy to support new musicians and fostering a love for music in them. He remembers how important those first steps were and looks forward to helping his students.
