Musician Spotlight: Christine Sherlock
Christine Sherlock is the Principal Violist of the orchestra and the fourth member of the Cascade Quartet. Don't miss her monumental solo recital on Sunday, October 6th at Our Savior's Lutheran Church. She is playing all six Bach Cello Suites! She says she chose to perform them because it is a marathon concert with an understandable theme. Admission is free and all funds raised go to the Cascade Quartet's Chamber Music Series!
Outside of her work with the viola, Christine enjoys opera, pizza, hot yoga, running, autumn, and capybaras!
Christine moved to Great Falls from New York last year and is enjoying her second season with the Great Falls Symphony and the Cascade Quartet. She was born in Florida and lived in Kentucky and Ohio prior to New York, and finally Montana! She said out of all the places she has lived, she loves Great Falls the most because of the strong sense of community.
While living in New York, she enjoyed attending operas at the Met then getting a slice of 99-cent cheese pizza. As much as she loves opera, especially her favorite, La Boheme, Christine says she just can't stand musicals. She especially despises the soundtracks she had to play over and over as they came off Broadway.Â
She also enjoys fitness! Every morning, Christine does a hot power yoga class at a local studio. She has run one full marathon and four half marathons, and enjoys the River's Edge trail system in Great Falls. She said she tried skiing once, but was not a fan and prefers to be cozy inside during the winter.Â
Her favorite season is Autumn, and her favorite holiday is Halloween. She loves scary movies and anything spooky. Her favorite horror movie is Us (lots of jump scares and gore). She is looking forward to the Halloween Matinee and dressing up as a capybara––her favorite animal! She says capybaras are the best because of their unbothered attitude and friendliness.Â
We can't wait to support Christine at her recital and hope to see you all there!Â
