The Great Falls Symphony’s Cascade Quartet kicks off 2018 with “Song & Dance”, a Chamber Music Series concert featuring guest artist Sarah Dassinger (dancer). The concerts take place at 2PM on Sunday, Janaury 28, at First Congregational Church UCC and 7PM on Tuesday, January 30, at the C.M. Russell Museum. Single admission is $15.00 for adults and $5.00 for students. Season passes are available for purchase for $75.00 for adults and $25.00 for students. Season passes are punch cards which grant seven admissions in any combination. Single admission tickets and season passes are available for purchase online here or at the door. For more information, contact the Symphony office at 406-453-4102 or click here.

The Cascade Quartet shares the stage with guest artist Sarah Dassinger as she interprets Erwin Schulhoff’s rustic, raw, and physical Five Pieces in movement. Audiences loved Sarah’s dance collaboration with the Chinook Winds last season. Franz Schubert excelled at writing vocal music, so the melodies of his quartets are often based on songs that were popular in his time.

Sarah Dassinger

Sarah Dassinger moved to Great Falls from Kansas where she trained in Cecchetti ballet, jazz, contemporary and hip-hop. She has competed and received national awards in jazz and hip-hop from Co.Dance (Paula Abdul), Tremaine, and West Coast Dance Explosion. Sarah has performed with Bowery Dancers and Topeka Ballet Ensemble where she performed Les Sylphide, Fantasia Corrette, LaBoutique Fantasque, Missione A Bombay and others.

Sarah is a graduate of Drake University and while there she taught and directed the university’s Dance Team. She teaches ballet, jazz, hip-hop and contemporary as well as directing the Great Falls Ballet Ensemble and co-directs the Young Dancers Company. She served as Secretary on the Montanan Dance Arts Association board and is on the faculty of Miss Linda’s School of Dance at the The Studio Centre.

With its depth of sound, insightful interpretations, and genre-bending performances, the Cascade Quartet has enriched communities across Montana and the Northwest for over three decades. They are praised for their cross-discipline collaborations and have worked closely with multi-media artists, dancers, choirs, world percussionists and jazz artists. Noted past collaborations include Yo Yo Ma, the Ying Quartet, and Grammy nominee Philip Aaberg.

The Cascade Quartet is the resident string quartet of the Great Falls Symphony and its personnel serve as principal players in the orchestra. Each quartet member is a strong advocate for music education and outreach. They tour extensively throughout the year providing concerts, multi-day residencies and interactive school activities for communities large and small. The Cascade Quartet includes violinists Mary Papoulis and Megan Karls, violist Maria Ritzenthaler, and cellist Thaddeus Suits.
