The Great Falls Symphony is pleased to announce an oboe masterclass that will be held concurrent with Symphony’s Saturday, May 9 concert. The masterclass will be led by the soloist for this concert, Dwight Parry. Mr. Parry is currently principal oboist with the Cincinnati Symphony and is Professor of Oboe at Bowling Green State University. Mr. Parry will be hosted by Great Falls Symphony oboist, Lisa Sundquist.

The masterclass will take place on Friday, May 8 beginning at 3 pm. The masterclass is open to oboists who are between their high school and university years. There will be four 15 minute slots for which oboists can apply for active participation in the masterclass. The masterclass is open to auditors of any age. This masterclass will provide young oboe players the opportunity to increase their musical experience and improve upon their skills. Active participants are asked to prepare a solo selection to play at the masterclass. A Bechstein piano will be available should the active participant care to bring an accompanist.

The masterclass will take place on the stage of the Mansfield Theater in downtown Great Falls. All are invited to join the GF Symphony in the evening where Mr. Parry will be performing “Les belle heures” concerto by Guillaume Connesson. Each participant will be provided a ticket for the Saturday evening performance courtesy of the Great Falls Symphony.
