Principal Clarinet Opening with the Great Falls Symphony Association & Chinook Winds quintet

The Great Falls Symphony Association announces an opening for Principal Clarinet in the Symphony Orchestra as well as the Chinook Winds.

After three wonderful seasons with clarinetist, Christopher Mothersole, the organization will be wishing him farewell with mixed emotion as he embarks on a new journey outside of Montana.

Live auditions will take place on Saturday, September 22 – Sunday, September 23, 2018, in Great Falls, MT. To secure an audition time, please send a cover letter, resume, and $25.00 audition deposit no later than , Friday, September 14, 2018. Candidates will be notified of their invitation to the live audition as applications are received. Candidates will be notified of their audition time and address information by Tuesday, September 18, 2018.

The start date for the position will be January 1, 2019.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

GREAT FALLS SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA: Serve as Principal Clarinet in the Great Falls Symphony.

CHINOOK WINDS: Serve as clarinetist with resident wind quintet of the Great Falls Symphony Association. The Chinook Winds shares the Great Falls Chamber Music Series with resident string ensemble, Cascade Quartet. The Chinook Winds also presents education and community engagement events (concert tours, school programs, and other community appearances).

PRIVATE TEACHING:

Expected to establish a private teaching studio. Musician determines fees and receives all income.

Other opportunities include teaching for Great Falls Symphony Association education programs and importing to other Montana orchestras. Depending on experience: substitute teaching, teaching college classes, or instrument repair.
