For presenters, community organizations, and schools
The Great Falls Symphony Association’s (GFSA) Education and Outreach mission is to build community through live performances and music education. The Symphony has two resident Core Ensembles which are key to carrying out this mission: the Cascade Quartet and the Chinook Winds. These Core Ensembles travel thousands of miles each year to bring exceptional music and outreach programs to communities large and small throughout the Northwest.
The Great Falls Symphony Association values the importance of making the Core Ensembles accessible to all audiences, especially in our home state of Montana.
With that in mind, the Great Falls Symphony offers a Fee Sponsorship Program for Montana presenters and communities who seek funding assistance to bring the Cascade Quartet or the Chinook Winds to their audiences. Presenters, schools, or other community organizations in the state of Montana planning to contract Chinook Winds or Cascade Quartet for a formal concert or an outreach activity are eligible for the Fee Sponsorship Program.
The presenter or school must complete the online application through or submit the following paper application. There is no application fee. The GFSA will review all applications and select Fee Sponsorship awardees based on need, quality of performance or outreach opportunity, block booking opportunity, tour schedules, and other factors.
Recommended Due Dates
Applications are accepted throughout the year. However, due to the planning and budgeting needs of the GFSA and the Core Ensembles, we recommend that presenters and schools submit their applications no later than March 15 for engagements in the following season. For example, a presenter would submit an application by March 15, 2018, to request Fee Sponsorship for a concert to be held in the 2018-2019 season.
Also in this section:
Fee Sponsorship awards range between $500—$3,000 for formal concerts. Fee Sponsorship awards range between $100—$250 for outreach activities. Fee Sponsorship awards will cover no more than 50% of the Core Ensemble’s service fee. There is no set minimum or maximum number of Fee Sponsorships to be awarded in a given year. Applicants will request a sponsorship amount in the proposal section of the application, however the GFSA does not guarantee that the applicant will be awarded the exact sponsorship amount requested.
Fee Sponsorship awardees are required to sign a standard Performance Contract and acknowledge the GFSA as a partial sponsor of the performance. The Performance Contract may include but is not limited to establishing the total fee amount, GFSA sponsorship amount, technical requirements for performance, lodging and/or travel requirements, outreach engagements, and concert promotion.
